Hi all,
I came across your site while researching a stein that was passed down to me from my grandfather and had been sitting on my shelf for years. As noted in the title, it is a Mettlach, 1797, 1/2T. It depicts playing cards, has an inlaid pewter lid with 4 coins, and has what looks like an old man's face on the thumb piece on the lid. I have been able to find what it is worth, but I am really more interested in any historical comments about it. If anyone can help my, I would much appreciate it.
