The March 2002 stein of the month has a blue-grey interior. I have another Girmscheid in the same style that has a white glazed interior. You will also find the white glazed interiors, as well as other interiors, in etched steins by Gerz, Marzi & Remy and Reinhold Hanke, in addition to the JWR and HR steins you mentioned. It may just be a case of what they wanted to do that day in trying to duplicate Mettlach's etched steins.
