Spangddahelm is indeed a small town Northwest of Cologne (Koln). Your stein is probably a souvenier of the town.

You might want to go to the SCI Home Page and click on Library. Scroll all the way down to "Beer Stein Marks", by Les Hopper. While Gerz used many different marks, especially after WWll, your mark might be there on page 5.

In any event, your stein sounds like a Modern/Contemporary "souvenier" type stein of very modest value. You might check on ebay for similar steins by Gerz. They usually sell in the $10-$20 range, when they sell.
