While it's always best to provide pictures, modern Gerz steins are fairly easy. I suggest you go back to the SCI Home Page and click on Library. Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page to "Beer Stein Marks" by Les Hopper. Go to page 5 and your Original Gerz mark is probably there.
Actually, after WW11 Gerz used many different marks. Your stein was made during the period of West/Western Germany (October 1949-October 1990). Just about all steins made during this period and later, were/are mass produced for the tourist trade or "decoration" pieces. Your stein would be included. All steins made post WWll are considered Modern/Contemporary.
Your best bet is to check ebay. Tons of Gerz steins are listed daily. Unfortunately, steins like yours, being very common, sell for very modest amounts. Gerz went out of business in 1999.
