You need to be very careful because you're getting into a value zone that is substantial if you don't know exactly what you're looking at. Maybe it's worth $225, but maybe it's worth slightly over $25. I suggest in the short term that you attempt to gather information on similar steins. Look on eBay... Look at your local library for "The Beer Stein Book" by Kirsner or Kirsner & Gruhl. Two local county libraries in the stein-collectors Hinterlands of South Carolina had these books. I studied them diligently for months before buying my own. Find examples, tour the SCI website for articles, ask the store owner if you can take a picture. Leave and don't look back if you're refused. Get opinions from the visitors to this forum. The function of SCI is to educate and fellowship with other stein collectors. A $35 membership can go a long way toward establishing an enjoyable collection.
