Something new to me. This is a yard sale item ($1.00) A cameo fo Ludwig, (I assume)above a lion and coat of arms. Either side of this are scenes of military garbed men encampeted on one side and hound hunting on the other. The handle is shaped and painted to appear as a tree trunk. A metal lid with real deerhorn and a military style cap on top. A stag head is formed into the lever on the lid. It appears hand painted and lettered, with reference, in German, to 'Prince Ludwig and his hunters' and 'recollection of Freising' among other things I cannot decipher. When held up to the light an image can be seen throught the bottom of the mug of a man and a woman with buildings in the background. A feature that was only discovered after I got it home. There aare no marks or labels or names anywhere on it, but a small mark that looks like a '6' or 'G' on the bottom. There is a hand lettered line and 0.5 (/12 liter?) at the top, which is a law in Germany, I hear. Anyway, it's very interesting, but I know nothing of it's history or original purpose. Any help from soemeone more knowledgable than I would be greatly appreciated!
