The original call was made by Louis Foster, who's been collecting and studying Munich Child steins for years. Of course, we all get one wrong from time to time, but I had never thought to question that one until recently when I ran across an indisputable Marzi & Remy stein with the same mold number (i.e., 209).
Credit for the Merkelbach & Wick call goes to David Harr. My assumption is that his judgment was based, at least in part, on the configuration of capacity marks.
