Hi.
I have a salt glazed beer stein that was my grandfathers and am wondering about the age of it. From what I have read through this site and others, I found the maker and what-not, but am curious as to the age. From what I gather it was made after 1900, but don't know much other than that.
It is blue and gray, salt glazed and had at one time a pewter lid. On the bottom a tankard in a triangle makers mark with a 495 and 'GERMANY' underneath. The stein has a German inscription opposite the handle and rich, intricately carved designs with two faces, facing each other, kind of hidden in in the vinery design.
I don't plan on selling it, so I don't have a picture. I am just curious how old it is.
Thanks for any help.
Eric
