I am really perplexed with a stein that I have. It has a metal lid and bottom ring and is signed on the bottom "Hand Gemalt". There are no other markings. It looks old to me and the little research I have been able to do (I have only 1 book on beer steins) suggest that this stein may be from the mid to late 1800's, I am only guessing here from the shape and style of the finial on the lid. Can anyone help me with dates of manufacture? Maker? A value would be nice, but I also dont want to appear greedy in my requests. I also feel it is somewhat in bad taste to ask a value of something I intend to sell. The lid and bottom rim are slightly corroded (this stein was not stored properly and I was told it survived 2 basement floods) hence the metal looks they way it does. Shame on my for not cleaning it up! The underside is marked with an Angel form. Someone emailed me & told me it may be Dutch and recently made. My gut says something different. Anyway here are some photos, hope someone here can help. Thanks for your help!
