I recently got two steins from an auction and wanted to know a bit about them. One is a pitcher, clay stein w/ pewter hinged top. It has a hunt scene relief on it w/ a dark green back ground. The stamp on the bottom says Hanke with Germany stamped under it, also is the number 1023. The under the glaze you can barely make out a scratched 12. The pitcher also has a small foot on it and the whole stein stands about 16" tall. The other stein is also very large about17-18" tall. It is hand thrown with a very decorative handle. there is no top on it now, but a small wholeon the top of the handle suggests that there may have used to be one. It is very detailed and has reliefs of Carolvs Magnvs, Pipino, and Carolvs Martellvs. The inside does not feel as if it was glazed at all, nor the bottom. The only mark I could find is a 35 stamped on the bottom. Anything you can tell me about them would be great, I do have picture but dont know who to send them, so email me and Ill send them to you. Thanks for your Help!! Erica
