Thanks both for clarifying this. Unfortunately my mug appears to be missing the lid which begs another question.

There is a hole in the handle for a lid but no lid. It does not appear that there is any marking on the handle to indicate where the lid bracket would have been.

If the mug had a lid from the factory, would it typically leave a mark on the handle if it were removed?

And if you can indulge one more question, are there any examples where all mugs would have had the hole for the lid whether or not a lid was applied?
