Actually, that means quite a lot. Your steins are made from porcelain, and those "pictures" are called lithophanes. There is an article about them in the Library section of this site.
The significance of this is that we know with certainty that your steins are not Mettlach, as they did not produce porcelain.
The answer to your further question is "Yes, they do use lithophanes in repros."
