Ohh Walt, Is it possible that this seller is only acting upon information given to him from the consignor? Not to be the devil's advocate, but the email you sent would have put me onto the defensive as well. I do understand your frustration with seller's like this (those who do not stand behind their merchandise), I am a seller on eBay as well and I have made mistakes about identification of certain items. Most of the time I get a polite email from someone with more knowledge than I and when they have taken the time to email me and helped to set me straight, I have always been grateful (good bad or ugly). Personally when I have taken consignments (which I rarely do except in special circumstances)I too will not accept returns unless the item is grossly misrepresented. By that I mean, if the item is damaged in some way, is not made from the material I have stated, or is from the wrong century I will take the item back. But because of the nature of consignments it is difficult to take an item back that you have already paid your consignor for. It is a shame that this seller took your email to him as a personal attack and that he (not knowing how knowledgable you are ) blew off the information you shared with him. Personally I feel there might have been a better way to approach a correction. Sorry I do not want to offend you.
