I'm sure you're right tht she purchased blanks from a porcelain factory and then finished the steins. For a decorator who deals in custom designs, it would not be sensible (or necessary) to produce the stein bodies yourself - the market is relatively small and the investment in a porcelain production facility would be considerable. Much more sensible to purchase the blanks as they are needed.
