An undecorated Mettlach 1526 has a difficult time claiming a space in a collection. The primary value in such a piece would be for the lid (to place on another stein) or, less likely, for the body (to place under another lid). I recently purchased an undecorated 1-liter 1526 with a lid, and promptly tore the lid off and gave it back to the seller. I wanted the body so I could add a more unusual lid to it. I paid $25, which was probably generous.
