Large Cut Glass Stein-Jug. Please help ID if possible

Cut glass stein or jug, what is it called? Great pewter lid, 3 ring hinge. Beveled inlay lid. Blown glass with polished pontil mark, applied handle. Sits wobbly on table. Is it possible to pinpoint maker? Perhaps age? Anything helps!
