It would appear that my suspicions about Rosskopf & Gerz being solely a finishing shop were incorrect. I sent the question off to Höhr-Grenzhausen yesterday and today I got confirmation that R&G did, indeed, engage in ceramics manufacturing.
It's still possible that, like Hauber & Reuther, R&G both manufactured steins and did finishing work on steins manufactured elsewhere. Some of R&G's Girmscheid-like pieces might lead to such a conclusion, but for now at least, that's purely speculation.
