Here is some historical information regarding your stein: The 1. Schweres Reiter-Regiment Prinz Karl von Bayern (1st Heavy Cavalry Regiment Prince Karl of Bavaria) was raised on 16th July 1814. The honorary Colonel-in-Chief of this regiment, as of the dates on your stein, was Generalfeldmarschall Prinz Leopold von Bayern. The commanding officer was Prinz Alfons von Bayern. This regiment was garrisoned in Munich. In 1815, the regiment participated in Napoleon's defeat at the Battle of Waterloo. In 1866, it fought with Austria against Prussia in the Seven Weeks War. In 1870, it fought against the French at Beaumont, Sedan, Artenay, Orleans, Chateaudun, Marchenoir, Coulmiers, Villepion, Loigny-Poupry, Meung, Beaugency-Cravant and in 1871 participated in the siege of Paris.

Regarding the pewter tear on the finial, this should not materially detract from the value, since a pewter tear of this sort can be easily repaired.

Bavarian Schwere Reiter regimental steins, while not exactly rare, are generally considered to be uncommon.

I hope the above is helpful.
