Art Nouveau in German is called Jugendstil. If you click on Library on the SCI Home Page, there is a very good article on Jugendstil steins.
Generally speaking, the Jugendstil period in Germany was from about 1900-1910. Art Decco came in from around 1920-1930.
If you check out the styles, they are very different. Reinhold Merkelbach, for example, was one of the major Jugendstil stein producers. After WWll they reproduced some of their original patterns. Original Jugensdstil steins are highly collectible by many, probably more so than the Art Decco originals.
