Train Regimental Stein Questions

Hello fellow collectors! I recently was lucky enough to purchase my first Train Bataillon Regimental stein. Since this is the first Train stein I've seen up close (besides small photos in auction catalogs and books), I have some questions about the side scenes on it, and a few other questions. First, the stein is from '1.Comp. Grhrz Hess Train Batl. No18 Darmstadt 1905-07'. I've taken 7 pictures of it that I will link to in this post. First, the roster only has 24 'reservists' listed and 5 'Einj-Freiw' listed (which I found in research is a one year volunteer). Is this a normal number of soldiers for a Train unit, or was this a small unit? The side scenes really intrigue me on this stein. In R.Ron Heiligenstein's Regimental Beer Stein Book, there are several train steins pictured. However, none have two of the side scenes listed that are on this stein. First, on the left side of the stein is a scene of a supply wagon being pulled by four horse hitches. Under that is a scene I have not seen, it's a scene of soldiers gathering straw or hay, and feeding the horses (all the horses have feeding bags on). On the right side is a typical scene of a soldier kissing his girl, but the upper scene is what I will call a 'medical' scene of a wagon with a red cross on the side (under the driver), and another red cross on a flag flying above the wagon. My questions are: Is this a medical supply wagon, or an early horse drawn ambulance? My guess would be a type of ambulance to signal to the enemy not to fire upon it, since there are two red crosses on it. Is this correct? Lastly, how rare is a red cross wagon scene, and a scene of soldiers feeding their horses with feeding bags on? Any info about the details of this stein would be greatly appreciated!! http://members.aol.com/brownsjohn/regt1.jpg http://members.aol.com/brownsjohn/regt2.jpg http://members.aol.com/brownsjohn/regt3.jpg http://members.aol.com/brownsjohn/regt4.jpg http://members.aol.com/brownsjohn/regt5.jpg http://members.aol.com/brownsjohn/regt6.jpg http://members.aol.com/brownsjohn/regt7.jpg
