Thank you for that information. I like the story, and seem to remember it from somewhere... I took the workings of the stein out, very easy, as you said, but no markings underneath, just a line in the stoneware. Read about Roland, but very heavy going for me! Don't really understand how to translate that to something I would understand.. I gather he was a Count/councellor to the King, and he won battles, therefore, not someone you would send to try to make a peaceful agreement for you! Do I also presume he had a connection to Bremen too? Thanks again Cas
