I need some help interpreting the inscription on a German student association stein. The stein was given by ” V. Reinhold v/o Stoff ” and “ K. Stahl v/o Fass ” to their dear Leibbursch “ L.Berlin v/o Tell “. Can anyone tell me what “v/o” means? I am guessing that the words following the “v/o” might be nicknames, but I could use some help in translating them. Also the last line reads “gewd. Sternberg Weihnachten 1909”. I believe the gewd. stands for gewidmet. The only translation I can find for gewidmet is “dedicated.” Is there another translation for it used in this context, why they would use it rather than the more common “z. frd. Erg.?
