Well, the Loving Cup/Grace Cup does seem rather similar. I see that the earliest seem to be 17th century but that the story of their origin is given by 19th century antiquarians as being 11th century Scotland. (Malcom's wife, that's the "MacBeth" Malcom). But it's all rather British. My one is a regular gray stoneware .5 liter stein in all respects other than two handles. There must be some other German tradition, I would think.
