Hi John, "v/o" stands for "vulgo" (Latin for "common"), which described the nickname of a student. So it's V. Reinhold, nicknamed "Stoff", for instance. You're right with "gewd." and dedicated. There is no other translation for this word. Why they used "gewidmet", I can't say. Maybe they didn't have enough space on the lid anymore? Best Marc
