Mark, You really need to post a photo to get complete help. This firm started in 1849 and was purchased by Goebel in the 1970s. It became a separate company sometime later and operates as Merkelbach Manufaktur. Their web site is http://www.westerwald-keramik.de/handwerk_merkelbach2.htm The firm has use several marks, so that could help to narrow the manufacturing date. However, the use of the word "handgearbeit" means it is after WWII. Ron
