Brian, It is best to start a new thread when there is a new question. Replies are for responding to the person that started this thread or add something to someone's reply. Your stein was made by Diesinger and is probably circa 1900. If it is in mint condition and the color version, The Beer Stein Library lists its value in the $125 to $175 range. It will probably go for less than that on eBay. The correct wording and translation for the stein per The Beer Stein Library is: “Dem Veilchen gleich, das im Verborgenen blüht, trink immer wie gut, auch wenn as niemand sieht.” (As the violet blooms in hiding, so always drink plenty and well, even if no one sees you.) “Wenn’s Weib beim Ausgehn predigt, nimm sie mit, dann ist’s erledigt.” (If the wife preaches when you go out, take her with you, then the problem is solved.)
