Paul, That's too bad. It just goes to show that the big ones weren't meant to drink from. I have the mate to that stein (1578) with the lid and a King Gambrinus thumblift. I got a great buy on it at an auction right after I quit smoking. Since I spent my first year's savings from not smoking, I never smoked thereafter. I've been looking for a matching mate for 28 years, but can't find the right thumblift. Paul, can you help me identify a coat of arms that I believe may be from Luxembourg? If you can or know a source, I can send you a photo and descriptions of what I have found. It is engraved on the lid of a D&B terra sigilatta stein, which I believe you also collect. Ron
