Hi Jamens, It's Bavarian dialect. It means "Salvator, old friend, he shouted out, you did that very well, come on, let's drink to our brotherhood". Not sure about the Salvator, though - it could be Christ (the Savior), but I'd rather suspect that it has to do with the "Salvatorbier", a strong beer originally brewed by Francisan monks in the 16th century. The monks called it "Sankt-Vaters-Bier" (Saint Father's beer), but time after time the colloquial name of it became "Salvator-Bier". When at the beginning of the 19th century the cloister was disowned, the brewery was leased to the Paulaner brewery that continued the tradition and thus made the name "Salvator" for the popular beer official. So I think, the Salvator on your stein somehow refers to an imaginary Saint who was held responsible for the beer - it was known to been invented by the monks, and Salvator sounds pretty holy, so there must be a Saint Salvator somewhere (who indeed lived as Saint Salvator of Hora in the 16th century, but I can't imagine that he had anything to do with the beer, as he was a Catalan). Best Marc
