Since I am from the Blackforest, I can only say what it means in our area ( but we do have a lot in common with the Bavarian dialect). The latter is the word for Celery I believe...In Germany it is the root that is used not the stalk ( Sellerie.)Maybe since it is the root is is used similarily as the radish? A Faeger is a young fellow, a sort of Casanova, popular with the ladies.
