Hello Frederica, I have the exact same lid on another Merkelbach & Wick stein, and mine is dated 1893. Your's should be in the same region. The lid is a good example of a heavy quality pewter lid (very nice thumbrest too). To a collector it may be worth around 50 to 100 US$ on eBay I estimate, depending on condition and on the number of bidders. Prosit Paul
