I can tell from the comments you two haven't been collecting steins very long. Rare brewery steins are like rare reservist steins, they are avidly collected in Germany in particular and there is no celing for price when bidders compete for a rarely found piece. Remember, brewery, reservist, character and occupational, don't get in the way of those who collect them or they will run right over you.
