I have been collecting steins for 23 years and mettlachs for 7 1/2 years. I sometines, but rarely, still get stumped. I have a mettlach that I cannot tell whether it has a friction or rub mark on the brown glase/paint egde of the base or if it is a factory "miss". How can I tell for sure. It's definitely not a chip or flake. At best it is a "miss' or glaze/paint 'skip", at worst it was done by light contact or friction . Is there a way to tell if it is a factory flaw or not. Thanks.
