I picked up my first stein at an estate sale today. I spent 6 years in Germany but had seen nothing like this. It's about 15" tall. It has military scenes which make me think it's regimental. The thumbcap is a pewter lion, connecting to a lid of pewter, on which is mounted a porcelain cap, on top of which is a pewter cavalryman. It has no one's name or date. The bottom says "Josef Obermaier, Porzellanmanufaktur." The Porcelain Cap says "Reserve hat ruh," "Der Treu gedient hat seine zeit" and "JHM sei ein voller kruggeweiht." I can email pictures but can't post them anywhere. Any guesses from this kind community? Regards, Mike
