A good morning to all. I came across a stein that is 13 1/2" tall that has a capacity of 1 1/2 L. GERMANY is incised as is Standard Brewery CO Baltimore Bismarck. The stein is pottery, looks well made and features a Portrait of Bismarck on the opposite side of the handle and the Imperial German Eagle on both sides. There looks to be an incomplete 5 on the opposite side of GERMANY. The 5 looks like the top is missing. My questions are: Could what looks like the incomplete 5 be a mark of the stein maker? Does anyone know who manufactured this stein? Finally, the stein does have some aging and a minimal base flake that likely hurts the value. Considering all of this, I think it was likely made in the 1900-1912 range. I have been told that Standard Brewery made a beer called Bismarck during this time and this likely may have been some type of promotional stein. I would sincerely appreciate any thoughts about the maker, rarity possible value. I am pleased to have a stein with the German Imperial eagle on it. This has the same look of the eagle that appeared on their coinage of the time. Thanks for any thoughts you may have. Bob
