Thank you, Mr. Vogdes, for your kind effort at assistance. I'm glad I didn't try squeezing. The gap that results from pushing the strap all the way against the handle is somewhere between 1/16" and 3/32" so I'm afraid it's too big for the super glue solution but I'm intrigued by your shimming suggestion. I'm afraid that just wedging a piece of toothpick or cardboard between the strap and the handle would detract too much from my little stein's charm but what about fashioning a wedge from pewter that went all the way around the handle? Does that seem feasible? If I wanted to pursue that idea, where would I get a strip of pewter that was roughly 3" long x 3/4" wide x 1/16" thick? I believe I could trim and hammer it to the right size but have no idea where one purchases strips of pewter; a jeweler?
