Ron, Mettlach "1527" (signed by C. Warth) has the same design as four Girmscheid steins (719, 742, 734 & 751), none of which are signed. As I'm sure you know, it was common practice during that period for stein modelers/artists to create designs from paintings by others who had no connection to stein making; Defregger for instance. Perhaps a more interesting example can be found in Girmscheid 1047 (signed by "KB")and Girmscheid 1082 (signed by C. Warth), both of which match up to Warth's Mettlach 1916 and 1932. - Frank
