I really like that stein: great picture, nice lid, some historical relevance. If I were in a position to be able to pay $5000 for a stein, I would consider buying it, even though it is not in my collecting interests. From what I have heard, there is a strong market for steins in Germany right now. I just talked to someone who recently returned from Germany and was turned down on a $6000 offer for a stein. In an auction all it takes is for two people who really want an item to drive the price up beyond normal value.
