Walt makes some very good points. I like the stein too, but converted to US dollars, the winning price comes to $5,230.52 (1 Euro = $1.46). There are not too many people that can afford such a price for a stein (I wish I could!). The right theme or rarity will push prices way up if 2 or 3 people really want the stein, and can afford it. Something is worth what someone else is willing to pay for it, so the next time another one of those steins comes up for auction (it may never come up again if it's rare), it may or may not fetch the same or similar selling price - or it may go up in price. Sometimes auction prices reflect the 'perfect storm', other times, items go for alot less than they should. The seller hit the jackpot with this one though. It is a very nice stein with a few nice themes collectors like. John
