Sorry! My post should be clearer with quotation marks - here is the correction: I sent this to the seller: "Hello, I wrote to you before that this is not a Mettlach item, and you responded that Mettlach earlyware is poorly marked. True. However, I did go to some experts, who said it is a porcelain pate-sur-pate style stein, and definitely not a Mettlach. Furthermore, to continue to let this claim ride, despite your tiny disclaimer that you can't be sure, is not a good idea. It is too obvious to the collectors, and you are allowing a slightly less knowledgable person to think they are buying something that they are not." I kinda thought that was fairly polite. I sent it so he could see my ebay bidder name. This is what he answered: "If they were experts they would have told you the name of the maker wouldn't they? I don't appreciate correspondence from ebayers who use a seldom used bidder name as a blind." Phew! I would note that he did not sign with his actual name, either; and I sure hope my bidder name is "seldom used". Ah, well. I don't plan to email him again!
