Hi Ron, I bought one of the Nuendorf Bismarcks off German eBay this summer, not being aware that it was a new stein. The seller indicated it was old, and it looked old - I had just assumed that there was another version of Bismarck out there that wanted to join my collection. When I rec. it, I immediately noticed that the pewter mounts were chemically darkened, and an antiquing glaze had been applied to it both inside and out. I'm sure the same applies to the skull(s) under discussion. The quality on the Bismarck is pretty good for a new stein, but I'd bet the ranch it was not made by Stahl, as the decoration and "feel" is different. These steins (skull and Bismarck) were meant to deceive - the glazing has even been crazed, before the antiquing glaze was applied. To a casual collector, they look old. I too, have reported this seller to feeBay for both the skull and Bismarck, but as we all know, they rarely ever do anything - esp if it happens to be a Power Seller that brings in lots of revenue for them. I did contact the latest buyer, and we've been discussing it. Hopefully he'll lodge a complaint for fraud w/ both feeBay and PP - maybe then they'll pay attention. BTW, this seller has already listed another skull for $100 BIN.
