Jonathan, Are you sure it is a figure eight and not an "S." If it is an "S," the mark is probably that of Sitzendorf Porcelain (see http://www.antique-china-porcelain-collectibles.com/sitzendorf-marks-china-porcelain-markings.htm Ron
