Sorry for delayed response, Stewart. I didn't get to check SteinTalk yesterday. I appreciate your thoughts on this and I'll incorporate your ideas into my research. I did find an engraving on the pewter rim of the lid indicating the name John R. Pearson and the date of Feb. 9, 1901. It apparently was a presented to him on that date. So, I at least know minimally how old it is. Thank you for the help!
