Stewart, I don't think there would have been a need for Eckhardt & Engler to apply two marks to the stein. The stein is an old Rosskopf & Gerz (RuG) mold. My RuG book does not mention the HB under a crown mark. I will try contacting Herr Thewalt to see if he can shed any light on this mark. Since it says handpainted, I am thinking this may have been a small finishing shop that painted the steins for E&E. Hoehr and Grenzhausen were separate cities until they merged in about 1936. Ron
