You might also check the bottom of the stein and see if, as in other Egon Bay steins I've noticed, the "made in Germany" is imprinted into the ceramic. This means it really was made in Germany and that it is not one of the rather similar steins partially made in China which had paper or ink stamps misleadingly applied.
