I recently purchased a nicely etched and colored 1/2 L stein manufactured by Reinhold Merklebach. It has a old 1700's sailing ship in the middle section of stein with the character of Mercury, I believe, on one side and a regally dressed lady on the other side. Can anyone provide more information on this stein? I like naval items and it seems an uncommon theme on steins of this vintage. There is an old-german phase across stein but I have not been able to translate. This stein has nicely done etching comparible to other Mettlach steins I have in my collection. Thanks/JJ
