Thanks Ron! So, the Bohne company didn't put the music box version in their catalog? Music box steins seem to be relatively ignored by both hobbies, and both types of manufacturer. This Frog for the Khedive shows that they were around during the classic stein period at the turn of the century though. The music box collectors don't say much about steins; but, it appears that the size of a typical stein base is physically very good for music box mechanisms. They can make smaller ones but the fine work is very expensive. They can make bigger (and more complex) ones but that's also expensive. The flip side is that music box collectors aren't very interested in the inexpensive ones, such as fit in steins.
