Ken, Ebay no longer shows the bidder IDs of those bidding on an item. The IDs are disguised by a randomly generated ID of the form a***b. At the end of the auction the winning bidder's ID is shown to everyone. If you are logged on, your ID will show normally. I think the idea behind it is to keep scammers from contacting the non-winning bidders and offering the item to them. This may lead to some bidders bidding recklessly, but one would have to look at each auction in question to actually determine what is going on.
