Bruce, There are several examples of Mettlach steins that were also produced by other stein manufacturers. The one on eBay was made by J W Remy. Sometimes the scene is from a famous painting, so it isn't necessarily a copy of another stein. Not knowing the real dates of manufacture, it would be difficult to say which is the original and which is the copy. The assumption, however, that Mettlach was the original is probably correct as they were the leader to be copied. Ron
