There is a lot of smoke around the subject of the Brewer's Star (Stern). The 6 pointed star is not the prorogative of the Jewish people. It has been used as a symbol long pre dating the Jewish nation. It can be found in very early Hindu scrips and was also used by various ancient Arab nations. It was common practice to borrow simple symbols in olden days e.g. the Nazi swastika is commonly found as decoration on ancient greek pottery and the christian cross is similarly found on bronze age and iron age pottery. Have a look on www.schlenkerla.de/biergeschechte/brauerstern where you will find a lot of Stern history with illustratiions. Recently on Ebay there was a Bayern beer tavern token for sale with the star on one side and a foaming stein on the other. I also have a Jungenstil stein with a beautiful pewter top showing the star with crossed stringed instrument/stein jug in the centre. I can provide email pictures of these to anyone interested.
