Am I right in thinking, then, that these copper inserts were rather like lithophanes in the sense that they were made separately by a specialized company and then added to the stein? I suppose the decorator would have chosen them, if the decorator was separate from the stein manufacturer. How common are copper inserts like this? You can't see them in a lot of photo's, which are so often taken from the side.
